Warren County shooting victim ID’d; Man charged with murder

A man in his 70s is facing murder charges after a woman was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Warren County.

The victim was identified Tuesday as 79-year-old Emilia Vinokur of Loveland by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Gerald Olin Finley, 77, pleaded not guilty to murder and felonious assault during his arraignment Monday in Mason Municipal Court.

Finley is accused of shooting Vinokur in the head with a handgun, according to an affidavit.

Warren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a person with a gunshot wound around 3:15 p.m. Sunday at Deerfield Twp. Fire Station 57 in the 3000 block of West U.S. 22.

Crews attempted life-saving efforts, but Vinokur died at the scene.

Deputies detained a person of interest, later identified as Finley, who was on scene. He was charged with felonious assault and murder following questioning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Finley remains held on $200,000 bond in the Warren County Jail. He is next due in court Sept. 16 for a preliminary hearing to determine whether his case should proceed to a county grand jury.
